Having Cake and Eating it

Last week Merkel, Hollande and Renzi stood together defiantly defending the future of the EU. This week Theresa May assembles her Brexit team to position the UK’s negotiating stance. All options are still believed to be on the table. The Chancellor is thought to prefer selective access to the single market. There are rumours of divisions among the wider (more Eurosceptic) Brexit ministers. Meanwhile, Germany’s economics minister reiterated that the UK couldn’t have ‘the nice things’ without the corresponding ‘responsibility’.
