Green Apples and Apple Pie
Overturning a domestic agreement in Ireland, the EU has imposed an £11bn tax on Apple, in what some are perceiving as a slight to the US. At a point where the TTIP trade talks between the EU and the US are looking more fragile, could this be an opportunity for the UK? Becoming a low tax environment outside the auspices of the EU, might position the UK attractively for US companies. Not according to Barack Obama, who states that the UK’s relationship with the US ‘risks unravelling’ post-Brexit. As noted by Iain Duncan Smith: ‘Who cares what he says? He’s going’. Hillary Clinton at 3/10 odds is the one to watch it seems.
