Correlation and Causation

A report by the Fabian Society has shown a correlation between the amount of government funding received by parts of the UK, and their likelihood to have voted to remain in the EU. Whether or not correlation amounts to causation, the findings provoke difficult questions about whether we should as a society direct funding where it can achieve maximum economic benefit, or in a manner designed to reduce inequality. Eyes forward to the Autumn Spending Review where up to £40bn might be released by the Chancellor to fund infrastructure. Private/property investment will likely follow. But where?
