Cabbies Sent to Coventry

In good news for both the West Midlands and black taxi drivers, the London Taxi Company (LTC) has opened a new £300m industrial facility at Ansty Park. At a time where black cabs are suffering strong competition for the likes of Uber and the emergence of autonomous vehicles, this represents a bold commitment to the future of the industry. Partly backed by the government and partly by LTC’s Chinese investors, the factory is intended to address a requirement that all black cabs sold from next year must by electric powered. This sits as part of a wider basket of initiatives by the government to secure and develop the UK automotive industry (particularly new technologies), given the prospective application of EU tariffs.
