Blurred Lines

One of the most eagerly anticipated announcements of the post-referendum period has fallen a little flat. It was widely anticipated that Brexit minister, David Davis, would set out his red lines for the ensuing negotiations. However, his speech in the Commons has shed little light on the Government’s direction of travel, leaving the lines looking more blurred than red.  At one point Davis seemed to suggest that leaving the single market was a likelihood. However, Number 10 has since issued a rebuke, stating that these were Davis’ personal opinions and not public policy. The wait continues.
